Cathcart Revels In Senior Start

Although he had swapped the surroundings of Carrow Road to the Allianz Arena in just four days, Craig Cathcart was far from fazed during an impressive senior outing against Boca Juniors.

Having featured for Ole Gunnar Solskajer's Reserves against Norwich on Saturday, the young Northern Irish defender was drafted into the Reds' Audi Cup squad to face the Argentine giants on Wednesday evening - and he hardly put a foot wrong.

"It's brilliant," Craig told MUTV. "I played at Norwich on Saturday with the reserve team, then to fly over here and play in this brilliant stadium against good opposition was a good challenge and I really enjoyed it.

"It was a tough match. Boca Juniors are a different club to who you play against in the Premier League and overall it was nice to win. With great players around you, it makes you more comfortable and hopefully I fitted in quite well."

There was one heart-in-mouth moment for Cathcart, as his errant header ricocheted off his own crossbar ("It was like slow motion. Those Adidas balls move around a lot," he admitted), but he is eager for more senior action this season.

"I've been out on loan in the last three seasons, so hopefully I might get to stick around this year and try to get amongst the squad and get a few games," he said. "I'd like to see what happens. We've got a big squad and the manager will know which players to pick."
