Ben's Midlands Move?

Birmingham have stepped up their interest in Ben Foster as they prepare to lose the services of on-loan keeper Joe Hart.

Hart is returning to Manchester City this summer after a highly-successful season-long loan at St Andrew's. And Birmingham have now switched their attention firmly to Manchester United ace Foster.

MirrorFootball revealed on April 20 that Brum boss Alex McLeish had an interest in Foster, who has four England caps. Ambitious City, who are ninth in the Premier League, now want to secure 6ft 2in Foster on a permanent transfer. And City officials are believed to have already contacted their United counterparts to make their interest known in the 27-year-old.

“We do need a top quality keeper – it’s an important position for us,” said McLeish. “We’ll do our best to make sure the Birmingham fans get a goalkeeper who's going to give us the stature that Hart has this season.”
