Cleverley's Missing Element

Tom Cleverley feels he needs to add more goals to his game when he returns from injury to aid Manchester United's title chase.

The midfielder is still looking to break his duck for the Reds in a competitive fixture after scoring regularly in friendlies over the years.

By netting league goals for Leicester City and Wigan Athletic and averaging one strike for every three games at Watford, all during loan spells away from Old Trafford, it's clear that the potential is there for Cleverley to provide a real threat from deep.

"I've got a lot to learn," Cleverley told MUTV recently. "I'm still working a lot with Rene [Meulensteen] and Mike [Phelan] on the training ground.

"There are aspects of my game I want to improve. I want to start getting on the scoresheet. Even though I was playing well [at the start of the season], I feel like there's more [to come].

"I like getting in the box and coming late on the edge of the box and that's just the one thing that I feel is missing."
