Gill Promises Big Event

United chief executive David Gill has explained that the Legends clash between the Reds and Real Madrid will be a day for families at Old Trafford.
A special event is promised on 2 June as part of the Red Heart United project, a key part of the Manchester United Foundation's fund-raising activities.
Some of the biggest names in the game will be running out at the Theatre of Dreams again and Gill is in no doubt that the occasion will be a memorable one for all those in attendance.
"This is the return leg of the Legends game between Real Madrid and United," he stated at a press conference on Monday. "Last year, at the Bernabeu, it ended in a 3-2 win for Madrid in front of over 60,000 fans.
"This year, we're showing we don't take defeat lightly as we've started early and have trained harder as the video amply demonstrates. We're determined to reverse that score in front of what we hope is another big crowd at Old Trafford.
"Bryan [Robson, who is managing the side] has got some interesting new names in his squad for this year and they will be revealed over the course of the next few months. Hopefully, with two away goals - and they do count double in this fixture - we can be hopeful of victory."
The charity element of the Legends games is clearly very important to Gill and the club as a whole.
"We intend to make this a day for families to celebrate two great European cultures and two of the greatest clubs in the world coming together for a very good cause," he added.
"We're very grateful to Emilio Butragueno and a great club for coming back this year. Last year, we raised money for the Real Madrid Foundation so we're delighted Real wanted to come back to Manchester to help our Foundation's great work for communities in the North-West region.
"We've created Red Heart United as a fund-raising banner for the Foundation and all the activities, whether it's the Santa Run, treks or gala dinners, will use the Red Heart United umbrella going forward.
"Through this game, we can help more and more kids break the cycle of mistrust and disengagement by using this power of football and the name of Manchester United to inform, educate and inspire young people."
