Boss On Rooney Rumours
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has played down talk of Wayne Rooney joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Rumours of a move to the French capital intensified earlier this week when a former advisor to PSG and current owner of media outlet Le Sport 10, Michel Moulin, claimed a deal was "done".
"I announce to you from trusted sources: Rooney to PSG is done," Moulin said on French television. "He will be at PSG next season."
But Sir Alex Ferguson, responding to journalists' questions on Rooney's future at his Friday morning press conference, cast doubt on the PSG link.
"I don't think there is anything in that at all," the boss said.
Speculation surrounding a potential summer exit for Rooney increased on Wednesday evening when Sir Alex substituted the no.10 during United's 2-2 draw at West Ham.
"As far as taking him off the other night, it was simple: he wasn't playing as well as Shinji Kagawa was," he said. "In so many games Wayne Rooney is better than most players. But on the night Shinji was playing so well."
