Reds Set New Record
Manchester United set a new record for the most wins in the first 30 games of a top-flight season with the 1-0 success at Sunderland.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side have won 25 times in the Barclays Premier League this term to open up a 15-point lead at the summit.
"To win 25 games out of 30 is a record and it should be applauded," the boss stated. "It’s fantastic.
"I don’t think it matters [if we don’t get enough credit for it]. We’ve only got eight games left. It’s a bit late to give credit now. It doesn’t bother me too much."
The Reds' previous-best tally was 24 in 2007, with 70 goals scored in those 30 matches - the same as this term. In 1952, 1965 and the first year of the new division in 1993, only 16 victories were secured at this stage of the season.
Jose Mourinho's 2005 Chelsea side matched Tottenham's vintage Double-winning side in 1961 in terms of securing 24 wins while Arsenal's 'Invincibles', despite remaining unbeaten all season, won only 22 of their opening 30 games in 2004.
