Moyes Hails 'Superhuman' Sir Alex

David Moyes has spoken of his admiration for Sir Alex Ferguson - the man he will replace at the Old Trafford helm next season.

It was confirmed on Thursday that Moyes would take over the managerial reigns at United following Sir Alex's retirement at the end of the season after over 26 years in charge.

Moyes hailed his "superhuman" predecessor and explained how he will be missed by everyone in the game.

"It is a strange thing. I don't think anyone thought the day would come when Sir Alex retired. We all thought he was superhuman," Moyes told reporters on Friday.

"I said last week, I thought he was a great example to everybody in their 70s; how you work. We are all living longer, working longer, eating healthier. Life is changing. We are doing all the things you would hope will give us a much longer life.

"He will be sorely missed, particularly by a lot of managers because he always spoke to them. He would always have a quiet word for anybody who was out of work or going into a job. His respect is beyond any real words.

"We are slightly different eras in terms of age," added the 50-year-old Scot who will officially take over at Old Trafford on 1 July.

"I grew up looking at Jock Stein and Sir Alex Ferguson. They were the managers I was looking at in Scotland when I was growing up.

"Sir Alex has always been someone I have admired, then started to compete against. That was daunting enough. Everyone has great admiration for him. Any words I say won't do it justice because of what the man has done."
