Reds Relishing Trophy Lift
Manchester United will finally receive the Barclays Premier League trophy on Sunday, nearly three weeks after the title-clinching win over Aston Villa.
The Reds will lift the famous silverware for the 13th time in front of a full house at Old Trafford after the final home game of the season against Swansea.
And United’s championship celebrations will continue on Monday with an open-top bus parade around Manchester.
“It was a special night when we got it done and everyone’s now looking forward to getting our hands on the trophy, especially at home,” Michael Carrick told ManUtd.com.
“We’re all excited about it and there will be a great build-up, so it'll be a memorable day.”
This is a maiden league title success for a clutch of Reds, including David De Gea, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley, Shinji Kagawa, Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Robin van Persie.
For 31-year-old Carrick, a veteran of four title-winning campaigns, success is addictive.
“It gives you the belief to go on and the drive to win it again,” he added. “You have the satisfaction of finishing on top, then a day of lifting the trophy and celebrating.
"Once you experience that, you want it more, so I’m sure those who have won it for the first time will come back next season hungry again.”
