Berg Excited By Zaha Signing

Henning Berg has first-hand knowledge of the skills of Wilfried Zaha and believes the England Under-21 international will be an exciting addition to the Manchester United squad.

The Norwegian's opening game during his brief stint as Blackburn Rovers boss was at Selhurst Park in November when Crystal Palace won 2-0. Although Glenn Murray scored both goals, Zaha was the undisputed star of the show and left a lasting impression on the former United defender.

Zaha is fighting to be fit for the England Under-21 team's opening European Championship match in Israel against Italy on Wednesday night before sealing his switch to Old Trafford on 1 July, following his loan back to Palace in January.

"We played against Palace in my first game with Blackburn," revealed Berg to ManUtd.com. "He is a very good, talented player.

"He is not the finished article but he has got great potential. He's quick, with good dribbling skills, a good attitude and did particularly well in the play-off semi-final with Brighton when he scored two goals.

"What he needs to keep developing is his goalscoring ability and assists in front of goal but he's a fantastically exciting player, especially if he can be even more effective in terms of his passing and goals.

"There is no doubt he's got potential and you can see why he is going to United at that early age. However, there is going to be competition for places and he is going to have to handle coming to a big club like United and not playing every game every week.

"So it will be about being patient and looking to develop his game, while taking his chances when he gets them. That is maybe the biggest difference in playing at United compared to other clubs - there is more competition for places and you must be patient."
