Robin van Persie: Signed from Arsenal last August, the Dutch maestro was the catalyst for last season’s 20th title; he played in every Premier League match and scored 26 goals on league duty alone. His efforts later earned the supporters' Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and, having earned his first winners' medal, this fans' favourite is desperate to extend his trophy collection.

Wayne Rooney: Still a talismanic figure at Old Trafford, the former Everton striker will link up with his old manager on 1 July following a productive 2012/13 campaign in which 16 goals were netted from 37 matches in all competitions. The England vice-captain played in a variety of positions last term and, at 27 and fast approaching 10 years at United, has experience and ability in abundance.

Danny Welbeck: The Longsight lad knows his scoring must improve, having netted just twice last term, but his overall play from the wing was outstanding and earned him a nomination for the PFA Young Player of the Year award. Tall, powerful, intelligent, the future is bright for United’s academy graduate.

Javier Hernandez: Chicharito displayed his awesome predatory instincts last term to bag 18 goals from 36 appearances – equating to an impressive one in two ratio. Armed with intelligent movement and fantastic speed, the Mexican hotshot is not to be messed with in the final third.
