Robin Ready For New Era

Robin van Persie insists United's players must relish the dawn of a new age at Old Trafford.

David Moyes replaces Sir Alex Ferguson in the Reds' first managerial change in more than a quarter of a century, and van Persie sees the switch as cause for excitement rather than trepidation.

“It will be a new era and I am looking forward to it," Robin told MUTV. "It is part of our job as well. We have to deal with the new situation and how it is.

"First we can enjoy last year a little. We have a summer break which we should all take and enjoy. And then, slowly, after a couple of weeks, we will start to think about next season and, of course, we are looking forward to next season."

Despite the change of manager and members of United's backroom staff, van Persie is adamant expectations will remain undiluted, with the retention of the Barclays Premier League title top of the Reds' agenda for 2013/14.

"It is going to be a new era and a new challenge, with a new manager, maybe some new players coming," he said. "[Wilfried] Zaha is coming in from Crystal Palace, maybe some more. Maybe some will leave, nobody knows.

"But it is going to be a new challenge and everybody knows what our standards are: we want to win the league again and then hopefully add one or two trophies to that."
