Young: Rekindle Winning Ways
Ashley Young believes Manchester United's players will gain a lot of confidence from the 1-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk - a result that confirmed United as group winners.
The winger says he and his team-mates have been frustrated with a recent run of disappointing results, so everyone was delighted to rediscover the winning feeling against the Ukrainians at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
"We really wanted to get back to winning ways tonight and thankfully we managed to do that," Young told MUTV. "We would have liked to have got a few goals more but it wasn't to be. The main thing is we got the three points and topped the group.
"When you're winning you play with more confidence than when you are losing. Everybody showed confidence out there. Everybody wanted to play and everybody wanted the ball."
Buoyed by the 1-0 win, David Moyes' men next head to Villa Park, Young's old stomping ground, a venue the winger hopes will yield another three points as the Reds look to reignite the team's league form.
"We want to get back to winning [every week] and there's no better place to go than Villa Park on Sunday and hopefully get another three points," the Reds no.18 added. "If we put on a display like we did against Shakhtar we should be able to do that."
