Pally Backs Reds To Attack Chelsea

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister says the Reds must be positive about the prospect of facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The two sides’ goalless last meeting in August was a cagey affair at Old Trafford where the champions could not find a way past a Chelsea outfit determined to leave Manchester unbeaten, to the point that David De Gea had little to worry about in the United goal.

"We have to go there and produce a performance," Pallister told ManUtd.com. "If we are to start climbing the league, then big games like this one against Chelsea are the ones where we have to set our stall out to get three points.

"I don’t think Jose Mourinho will use the tactics they came to Old Trafford with, looking for a draw, I think they will be more expansive and looking to get a win. At Stamford Bridge they will be confident of doing that, but we have had some good results there over the years.”

Pallister is confident that the Reds will take advantage if Chelsea go on the offensive on their home turf. “The onus always seems to be on Manchester United,” he added. “When we play the bigger teams, they are certainly not scared to have a go at us, and that can play into our hands. We can hit teams on the counter attack, and that gives our top players the chance to get extra space to make that count.”
