Dwight Yorke: Manchester United Can Go All The Way In Champions League
Manchester United can win the UEFA Champions League if they continue to show the passion which proved too much for Olympiakos, Dwight Yorke believes.
Yorke knows what it takes to lift the trophy having been part of the United side which beat Bayern Munich in 1999 to complete the final leg of the Treble.
And despite his old club's domestic struggles in David Moyes' first season, Yorke saw enough in Wednesday's 3-0 victory over the Greek champions to convince him a fourth European Cup come May is not out of the question.
Sky Bet make Moyes' side the outsiders of the eight remaining teams ahead of Friday's quarter-final draw, but Yorke told Sky Sports News: "Take nothing away from that result.
"I just think the United team we saw last night was full of energy, full of passion, like their lives depended on it.
"This team is experienced, they know how to win the Champions League and if they get a favourable draw on Friday who's to say they can't go all the way?
"That's me being a fan wanting to see the team continue in that vein. If the players continue to play like their lives depend on it, who's to say they can't?"
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the teams to avoid on Friday, according to Yorke, who said: "Atletico Madrid are doing well in La Liga, but United will fancy their chances against them.
"Then there's Borussia Dortmund - even though they're a fantastic team - and PSG. If I were United I would love to be drawn against any of those three."
Moyes was under huge pressure to deliver a result in the wake of Sunday's defeat to Liverpool which left United 12 points off the top four, and Yorke believes the manager's selection of Danny Welbeck in a wide role was key to overturning a 2-0 first-leg deficit.
He said: "David Moyes had his team selection right last night - the energy from Welbeck in stretching defenders. That creates space for other players like Ryan Giggs to come in and show their quality passes."
