Anders Eyes pre-season Trophy
Anders Lindegaard insists he and his United team-mates will be aiming to claim silverware during Tour 2014, presented by Aon.
The Reds are one of eight high-profile teams involved in the International Champions Cup (ICC) in the United States later this month. As well as a friendly against LA Galaxy in the Chevrolet Cup, Louis van Gaal's men face AS Roma in Denver, Inter Milan in Washington DC and Real Madrid in Ann Arbor, with a place in the ICC final in Miami up for grabs. Lying in wait there will be the winner of the other ICC group, which features Manchester City, Liverpool, AC Milan and Olympiacos.
Lindegaard is looking forward to the challenge and, while the focus will be on sharpening fitness ahead of the new season, he says winning the ICC is a big objective for the team.
"We want to win all competitions we participate in. It’s great to be in something like this instead of just playing random games. It’s a great initiative," he told us. "Usually we play against local teams and the main focus is on the fitness part of the game. It’s still going to be on that but it’s going to have an extra dimension now, playing against these big teams. It will be more exciting for people watching it, not just in the local area but across the planet as well."
