Kagawa Aims To Impress Louis van Gaal

Shinji Kagawa wants to put World Cup disappointment behind him by proving to new manager Louis van Gaal he has a bright future at Manchester United.

The Japan international had a forgettable season last term – he hardly featured under David Moyes and was considered a flop by local media after Japan’s meek exit from Brazil at the group stage.

With a new boss at the Old Trafford helm, the 25 year-old feels refreshed and has vowed to start the new campaign on a high note.

“I feel incredibly excited,” Kagawa told AFP in Tokyo.

“It’s a new start and I feel re-energised. It’s up to the players to get the results we need. I have a strong desire to do well.

“I’ll look more closely at my game and accept the challenge filled with passion.”

Van Gaal is thought to have placed the entire United squad on review, and Kagawa will need to quickly prove his worth if he is to have his contract extended beyond July 2016.
