Nottingham Forest Deny Deal Close For Wilfried Zaha
Nottingham Forest coach Brian Eastick has played down reports suggesting Wilfried Zaha could soon be joining the club on loan.
It has been suggested that Stuart Pearce has turned his attention to a player he knows well from the England U21 set-up in his pursuit of fresh faces.
Zaha is expected to be on the move at some stage in the near future, with it unclear where he fits into Louis van Gaal’s plans at parent club Manchester United.
Pearce has admitted to being in the market for new recruits and is planning to discuss transfer matters with Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.
There is every chance that Zaha will figure prominently in those discussions, but for now there is no deal in the pipeline.
Eastick said in the Nottingham Evening Post: “There will not be any new additions in the near future. Stuart is very happy with the squad he has got at this moment in time.
“I think the owners have been very supportive when it comes to the players he has brought in.
“If you told him a month ago he could start the season with the squad he has got, I am sure he would be delighted.
“You have to expect the unexpected though in this game, so I wouldn’t dismiss any further players coming in. But there is nothing at this moment in time.”
On the Zaha gossip, Eastick added: “I don’t take any notice of rumours.
“Obviously we know him very well because we have worked with him with the development sides and the U21 team within the England set-up.
“But put it this way, he will not be part of the squad at Tranmere tomorrow.”
