Robson Previews The Manchester Derby

Bryan Robson believes United can secure a positive result from Sunday's Manchester derby - but only if the defence can quell City's attacking threat.

The Reds hero never lost to the Blues during his illustrious career at Old Trafford and is confident that Louis van Gaal's team can also avoid defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

"I think the defenders are going to have to do really well against Aguero, if he is fit - that would be a plus if he is out," Robbo told MUTV. "Dzeko is a real handful and Silva, I have been told he is probably not going to play - that is also a plus. So if we can defend really well, it has been shown that City concede goals.

"From being a really top team and being champions, they can concede goals and we have got the strikers who can do that. So I think, instead of saying it is a midfield battle, I think it is how these defenders can cope with the forwards."

Pressed to make a prediction for the derby, Robbo continued: "It is going to be a close game, I don't think it is going to be a run-away for City like it has been for the last couple of games.

"As long as the lads stand up and have a bit of fight and spirit, because they are going to have to stand up to City, then I think we can take a point from the game."
