Evans Insists Patience Is Key
Jonny Evans is confident Manchester United will return to winning ways following consecutive draws over the Christmas period.
The Reds were held at both Tottenham and Stoke, extending the current unbeaten run to 10 matches, but when asked if the results felt like points dropped, the defender responded positively.
“Definitely,” he told MUTV. ”We have to remain patient though, that’s the main thing. I think in the last few games, the performances have been better and we’ve played with more fluency. We know our roles in the team now and, positionally, we are very organised. But we have got to remain patient and hopefully the results will come.”
Three of United’s last four outings have been away from home, and Louis van Gaal’s men are on the road again on Sunday for the FA Cup tie at Yeovil Town.
Evans added: “It’s difficult, especially away from home as you are always going to have a tougher game. The manager has had quite a few injuries, which makes it difficult to rotate the team like he would like to have done, considering the fixtures and how close they are together.”
The Northern Irishman, who celebrates his 27th birthday on Saturday, is also keen for the Reds to reclaim the FA Cup, which last returned to the Old Trafford trophy room in 2004.
“At a club like this it should not be like that and I think with the manager coming here, in his first year he will be desperate to do well in it,” added the centre-back.
