Fletcher's Proposed Move To West Ham Breaks Down

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says negotiations to bring Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher to the club have broken down.

United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed on Friday that 30-year-old Fletcher was having talks with the Hammers but Allardyce revealed after the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield that the move will not now go ahead.

West Ham were head of the queue to sign Fletcher with Spanish side Valencia and West Brom also interested in signing the midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Fletcher was named United vice-captain at the start of the season but has been unable to break into Van Gaal's first team this season.

The Scotland midfielder has made just 12 appearances for United this season, with the most recent being in the 2-0 win at Yeovil Town in the FA Cup first round.
