Van Gaal Requests Personal Hearing

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has denied a Football Association charge of misconduct in relation to media comments.

The 63-year-old has requested a personal hearing with the FA, with a date for that meeting still to be confirmed.

Van Gaal claimed "every aspect of the match" had been "against" his team, including the referee Chris Foy following United's surprise fourth-round goalless draw at Cambridge United last month.

The FA charged van Gaal last week, claiming the views of the United boss "allege and/or imply bias on the part of the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute".

A statement from the FA on social media read: "Louis Van Gaal denies FA misconduct charge in relation to media comments and requests personal hearing, date to be confirmed.

"The Man Utd manager was charged following The FA Cup tie against Cambridge United on 23 Jan 2015.

“It is alleged his comments constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute."
