David De Gea: I'm Still Improving
David De Gea believes he has become a better goalkeeper during the 2014/15 campaign – and feels he is still improving every day.
In an exclusive interview in the new edition of club magazine Inside United, on sale now, the Spaniard says: "Yes, I have [improved]. I’m very young and I always try to keep getting better, in every training session, every match, and I think it’s been a very productive season for me. I’m still growing as a player; I’m very satisfied with the season that I and we have had."
Highlights have come thick and fast for De Gea during the season, with wonder saves becoming a common occurrence and virtuoso displays such as those against Liverpool and Everton reinforcing his status as one of the world’s most talented stoppers. His performance levels led him to be nominated for both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year. On top of that, he is a strong candidate to retain the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year trophy later this month – though the way he sees it, he has plenty of competition.
"Every player deserves to win it," he says. "Everyone has done important things for the team. Everyone tries their absolute best to win and gives all they’ve got in training to help the group."
