Shaw And Rooney Suffer Injuries At Palace

Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney both suffered injuries during Manchester United’s invaluable 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Barclays Premier League.

Shaw appeared to take a blow to the face from James McArthur and looked shaky when he went to ground to receive treatment. The fledgling left-back, making his 20th appearance of the season, was then replaced by Jonny Evans on 40 minutes.

Rooney appeared to take a couple of heavy knocks to his left thigh and was hobbling at the end of the first half. The captain reappeared on the pitch before the start of the second half, attempted a quick warm-up but it was seemingly decided he wasn't fit to play and he was replaced by Radamel Falcao.

Speaking on MUTV after the final whistle, club legend Bryan Robson praised Rooney for the way he tried to play on in the second half before declaring himself unfit.

"Instead of Wayne sitting in the dressing room, waiting for the 15 minutes and coming on to the pitch to say it’s no good five minutes into the second half, it was a good decision to go out before the second half," Robbo explained on the 'Matchday Live' programme. "At least run about for five minutes and say: ‘this is no good. I need to come off’."
