Depay: My Goal Is The First Of Many

Memphis Depay hopes his maiden goal for Manchester United will be the first of many and he describes playing for the club as "awesome" after being made to feel at home by his team-mates.

The 21-year-old performed well in the first half of the Reds' 3-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes and, after narrowly failing to get a touch to Juan Mata's opener, he slotted home to give the Reds a two-goal lead. Clearly on a high after getting off the mark, Memphis spoke to MUTV at the Avaya Stadium and expressed his emotions.

"It's a great feeling," he enthused on the official club channel. "I'm a striker or attacking midfielder so it's always nice to score goals and give assists. Today was my first one and, I think, the first of many so I keep working on it.

"Of course, it was a mistake by the defender but Wayne [Rooney] was putting pressure on him [Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi] so he made the mistake. I was reading the situation. I already thought, like gambling, that he was going to lose the ball so I was there and made my first goal."

The big summer move to United is clearly living up to the youngster's expectations.

"I really enjoy it," he stated. "[I'm] serious – every day. To wake up as a Manchester United player is awesome. I've settled in well and the boys are very nice."
