Jay Rodriguez Tipping Morgan Schneiderlin To Be Manchester United Star

Jay Rodriguez is backing Morgan Schneiderlin to be a hit at Old Trafford after he complete a move Manchester United.

Schneiderlin, who found himself playing League One football one year after joining Southampton in a £1.2m deal in 2008, has joined the 20-time English champions on a four-year-contract for a reported fee of £25m

The Frenchman is the latest star name to leave St Mary's but Rodriguez is convinced that his former team-mate has got what it takes to shine on the biggest stage.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "Firstly, I am a little sad about it all as he is a great player and great friend to me. But I'm very proud that he is moving to Manchester United. It is a massive club and it is a great move for him. I'm really pleased and looking forward to seeing how he does there.

"They are geting one of the best midfielders in the Premier league. Last year showed just how good he is. He's got everything he can break up play he's clever, he's fit and he's strong. He's a genuinely nice person, hard-working who care about his friends.

"Any team will miss a player like Morgan or Clyney (Nathaniel Clyne - who has joined Liverpool in a £12.5m deal) because they are top players but I think we have got a top squad. It is a squad that can keep on improving and obviously we will add to the squad I am sure."

Schneiderlin played in 30 games for the St Mary's club last season as they secured their best-ever Premier league finish, booking a ticket to the Europa League with a seventh-placed finish. He was also in France's World Cup squad last year.
