Fellaini Eager To Help With Euro Cause
Marouane Fellaini is eager to kick-start his season by helping Manchester United's cause in the Champions League having missed the start of 2015/16 through suspension.
A red card in the final league game at Hull City last term forced the Belgium international to watch from the sidelines for the opening two Barclays Premier League matches.
He remains banned domestically until after Saturday's home clash with Newcastle but is available for Tuesday's meeting with Club Brugge at Old Trafford and is raring to go, should he be called upon for the first leg of the crucial Champions League qualifier against a familiar foe. "I have trained hard every day and tried to stay fit," Fellaini told the official matchday programme, United Review. "I have probably done more training than the others because they have to rest for the games and I have done extra work in the gym to help with injury prevention. I hope that, when I can play, I will be very fit."
Fellaini is convinced the Reds need to triumph in the home leg ahead of a return to his homeland next week.
"Not conceding is important but the most important thing for us is to make sure we score and win the game so we can go to Brugge with a good result," added the midfielder, who netted his first professional goal against Brugge during his time with Standard Liege. "We will see what happens when we go there but we have to score at Old Trafford.
"The fact that the tie is over two games means anything can happen. As I said, we have to be ready and ready to challenge Brugge."
