Fellaini Happy With Switch Of Number

Marouane Fellaini admits he is pleased to have reverted from no.31 to no.27 at Manchester United.

The shirt number has a special attachment to the Belgian from his early days at Standard Liege and he was happy to accommodate Bastian Schweinsteiger's move into the jersey he wore at Bayern Munich.

"When I was younger and became a professional, Standard Liege gave me the number 27," Fellaini told the official matchday programme, United Review.

"It was a great number for me and, when I had the chance to change, I did.

"After that, I heard that Bastian Schweinsteiger liked the number 31 and I had no problem with that. I am really pleased with my new number."

Fellaini began life in the no.27 shirt in memorable fashion after he came off the bench to head home a vital last-gasp goal in the Reds' 3-1 Champions League qualifying victory over Club Brugge on Tuesday night.
