Smalling: Chicharito Looking Sharp In Training

Javier Hernandez is looking sharp in training, according to Manchester United team-mate Chris Smalling, as the Mexican marksman aims to prove he is the man to start firing the goals for the Reds.

Chicharito came off the bench against Newcastle United, the last team he scored against for the club, and would have been the hero but for an instinctive save late on by Tim Krul. The predatory striker's approach work to carve out that opening earned praise from his manager Louis van Gaal and he will hope to be involved at Club Brugge on Wednesday after also appearing as a substitute in the first leg.

"Chicha is looking so lively in training and he had a great chance as well," Smalling told MUTV. "He was just unfortunate that a couple of metres either side and that nicks a goal."

Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid but has returned to the fold and been in each of the matchday squads this term.
