Sir Alex Provides Clue To Good Management

Speaking on Manchester United's Facebook page, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed how his decisiveness was a vital part of his managerial make-up.

The Old Trafford legend is reading sections of his new book Leading as part of an exclusive series and talks about his mindset during the chapter entitled 'Decisions'.

"Some people can make decisions, others can’t," said Sir Alex. "Usually, you make a decision either too early or too late. I preferred to make them early.

"It doesn’t work if you’re hesitant by nature and allow things to linger. Others are in a perpetual quest for the last possible morsel of information, using that as an excuse not to make a decision.

"When you’re in the football world – and, I suspect, in almost every other setting – you have to make decisions with the information at your disposal, rather than what you wish you might have [at your disposal]. I never had a problem making a decision based on imperfect information. That’s just the way the world works."

The series will conclude on United's Facebook page on Thursday.

Leading will be released on 22 September and Sir Alex starts his theatre tour a day earlier in London. Find out more and pre-order special or standard editions of the book now from manutd.com/leading.
