Park Offers Advice To United Youngsters

Former Reds favourite Ji-sung Park has offered his advice to the Manchester United youngsters breaking into Louis van Gaal's team.

Axel Tuanzebe, Paddy McNair, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Sean Goss, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have all been involved in matchday squads over the past three league games with van Gaal willing to hand his Academy products an opportunity on the big stage.

"Some young players are getting more chances to play and train together with the first team," said Park. "It’s a really big motivation for them and also it’s good motivation for all squad. Those young players can also give other motivation for their fellow young players. That’s tradition of the club and our strength.

"What is important for the youngsters is they have to know that they have long way to go. So they need to show their quality constantly. They just had a good chance to show their ability and, from that, they can get more confidence. It’s really positive for the club and individual players."

Park knows all about Wednesday's Champions League opponents PSV Eindhoven after joining the Reds from the Dutch outfit in 2005.

"We failed to get three points at Philips Stadion [in September]," he said. "Now we need to win this time to go through to the next round. I am sure that our players have learned something from that match because PSV are strong.

"Many players had international matches and then we had an away match last weekend. So it's very important to be physically ready. I believe that Louis van Gaal and the coaching staff, plus the players, will know that.

"This is a home game at Old Trafford and we had a good result over the last few matches. So I think we will show a good performance and I hope the result is different from the last game against PSV."
