Pereira Hoping For More Chances
Andreas Pereira is continuing to do his utmost in training to catch the eye of Louis van Gaal in the hope of gaining another chance to impress in the Manchester United first team.
The Belgian-born Brazilian Under-23 international, who netted his first Reds goal in the Capital One Cup tie with Ipswich Town back in September, has been a regular in van Gaal's match squads this season and also made his Champions League debut against Wolfsburg.
"I think I'm progressing well and I'm working hard, as usual, every day," he told MUTV's Countdown to Kick-off programme, which airs on Friday at 18:30 GMT. "I'm trying to do my best and impress the manager and keep doing like I'm doing. Hopefully, I can be involved in some more games."
Attentions now turn to the visit of West Brom on Saturday and the return of former United stars Darren Fletcher, Jonny Evans and Anders Lindegaard in the Barclays Premier League. Pereira is expecting a tough game against the Baggies, who have picked up maximum points on their last two trips to Old Trafford.
"I think they're a very good team and I think, as well, it will be hard because there are some players that are from United, so they know how we play," he explained. "It'll be a strange feeling to play against Fletch and Jonny and not with them, but it will be nice to see them."
Pereira hopes to be involved again after being named on the bench for the crucial Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night. He described the feeling of Wayne Rooney's winner as "a big relief" and hopes it will act as the catalyst for more positive results.
"Maybe it was just the goal needed to get going again," he added. "Hopefully, on Saturday, we can score a few goals. We have to keep working hard and make sure we win the game."
