Manchester United are on course to break their worst-ever first-half goals tally for games at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Louis van Gaal's side have scored just two first-half goals in 10 home league games this season, and one of those was an own goal netted by Tottenham's Kyle Walker on the opening day of the campaign.

United are well on course to break the record for their lowest first-half home goals in an entire season; their current worst tally was 11 in 2013/14 and 2004/05.

The other was scored by Memphis Depay against Sunderland in September, and the tally of two is by far their lowest at this stage of a Premier League season.

United's previous worst after 10 games was six, which they achieved in 2013/14, 2004/05 and 1992/93, while their best was the 16 they scored in 1997/98.

No Premier League team has failed to score a first-half home goal after 10 games but four sides - Aston Villa in 2013/14, Crystal Palace in 1994/94, Middlesbrough in 2003/04 and Sunderland in 2001/02 - scored just one.

The lowest amount for a completed season was achieved by Sunderland in 2002/03 when they finished bottom of the league after scoring just three times in the first half at the Stadium of Light.

Queens Park Rangers were also relegated in 2012/13 after netting only four times in the first half at home throughout the season.

However, despite their first-half travails in front of goal, United still possess the fourth-best home record in the Premier League this season, having won five of their 10 games, while losing just once to Norwich City in December.

And even though the Red Devils have scored just twice before half-time at Old Trafford, they have gone on to find the back of the net a further 10 times in the second half of matches, leaving them with an overall home goal difference of +8.
