Fellaini Wary Of 'Motivated' Midtjylland

Marouane Fellaini insists Manchester United will not be complacent when facing Midtjylland on Thursday, assuring fans that the Europa League is a competition the Reds want to win.

United are strong favourites ahead of the club's maiden meeting with the Danish Superliga side but Fellaini has urged his team-mates to be ready for a potentially difficult encounter in Jutland.

The Wolves reached the last 32 by finishing second in their group, behind Napoli but ahead of United's early-season Champions League opponents Club Brugge, and will no doubt be inspired by the visit of Louis van Gaal's side to their 11,800-capacity MCH Arena.

"They will be very aggressive as they want to win and show that they are a good team, but we are strong too and have great players," Marouane told MUTV.

"We have the capacity to win and we want to win the game, even though it will be difficult. We have to be motivated because we know they will be."

Fellaini admits that a congested fixture schedule over the next month will present some challenges to the Reds, but knows it is part and parcel of aiming to win a major European competition.

"It is a big week when you play on Thursday and then either Sunday or Monday – the recovery time is a lot less," the Belgian said. "But we want to do the best we can in the Europa League, as it is a competition there to be won.

"Make no mistake, we’ll be going into Thursday’s game aiming to win, as we want to do well in the competition."
