Inter Milan Director: Mourinho 'Going To Manchester'
Jose Mourinho will succeed Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager, according to an Inter Milan director.
Doorstepped by reporters as she left a restaurant following a meal with former Inter boss Mourinho, Bedy Moratti - sister of former club president Massimo Moratti - said: "We had a good time, he's great. He's missed as a person, but right now he's happy, he's going to Manchester."
United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table and Thursday's embarrassing Europa League loss to FC Midtjylland has further weakened Van Gaal's position.
Since the turn of the year, there has been continued speculation about Mourinho returning to management at Old Trafford.
However, Sky Sports' Guillem Balague has reported that there is still no deal in place between the former Chelsea boss and United.
Mourinho is already as short as 1/5 with bookmakers to become United's next manager, while Van Gaal is the overwhelming favourite to become the next Premier League manager out of a job.
The Dutchman's side were upset 2-1 in Denmark on Thursday and travel to Shrewsbury on Monday looking to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Mourinho, by contrast, is spending his weekend in Milan, where he watched former club Inter host Sampdoria on Saturday.
The Portuguese famously led the Nerazzurri to the treble in 2010 and there were recent reports that he could return in place of Roberto Mancini.
"This is like coming home to a family. And it feels more like six days rather than six years since I've been away," Mourinho told reporters in Milan.
"The greatest thing about football, more important than results or victories, is the human rapport and friendships that remain.
"Could I return one day [to Inter]? Why not? I returned to Chelsea. So why not back to Inter too? I just want everything to go well for the current president and Roberto Mancini at Inter."
