Rojo: Reds Focused On Next 2 Matches
Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is hoping that home advantage could play a significant part in ensuring the Reds emerge from the next two league games with six crucial points.
Following a morale-boosting FA Cup win over West Ham United during the week, the Argentinian insists that - despite a looming Wembley berth – focus is now solely on league matters as Louis van Gaal’s men aim to make up ground in the battle to secure a top-four finish.
“Reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup has been a big boost for everyone at the club, but we have to change our mindset now and look towards the games against Villa and Palace,” Rojo told MUTV.
“We need every point we can get and recognise that these games could be really key,” he continued. “Six points at this stage of the season could be crucial in the shape of the table at the end of the campaign and we have to approach these games positively with the mindset of getting the three points.”
Rojo also commented on United’s somewhat inconsistent record against teams lower down the table, refusing to categorise any game as straightforward and imploring his team-mates to maintain 100 per cent concentration for the remainder of the campaign.
“It doesn’t matter where the sides are, in this league everyone can beat everyone else whether you’re at the top or the bottom,” United's no. 5 said. “Yes, in some cases we have struggled against teams you can mention but, starting from Saturday, we’ll be looking at picking up as many points as we can, both home and away.”
