The Men Who Won Us The FA Cup

ManUtd.com looks back on the performances of the men who helped Manchester United to secure a 2-1 extra-time win over Crystal Palace and a record-equalling 12th FA Cup...

David De Gea
Didn't have a great deal to do across the course of the 120 minutes and will be disappointed that Palace's goal crept in at his near post, but he made a hat-trick of good stops from Yannick Bolasie during the match, plus a superb block with his feet from Dwight Gayle in extra-time and then from Wilf Zaha.

Antonio Valencia
Bombed down the right wing as much as possible and put in a lovely cross for Anthony Martial to hit the post after half-time. It was his excellent work and cross which was cleared to allow Jesse Lingard to blast home an incredible winner in the second half of extra time.

Chris Smalling
The Players' Player of the Year was given a very busy afternoon by Bolasie, Zaha and company. But despite his best efforts and after some important interceptions, the defender's evening ended disappointingly with a red card following his second yellow card in extra time. Still, he's an FA Cup-winner!

Daley Blind
Like his central defensive partner, the Dutchman was kept well occupied by the Palace attackers but he coped well. He was also United's regular corner-taker and produced some dangerous set-pieces.

Marcos Rojo
Couldn't get forward as much as he would liked in the first period with Zaha to keep an eye on, and a foul on the former Reds winger earned him a booking. His match later ended on 66 minutes when he was replaced by Darmian, after being unable to shake off the effects of a stern Delaney tackle.

Michael Carrick
A calm head, he worked well alongside Wayne Rooney and, like the captain, has now completed his domestic medal collection. The vice-captain sent an effort over the bar late in first half and another header wide in extra-time. Ultimately, he brought an assurance to United's play whenever it was needed.

Marouane Fellaini
Caught the eye at Wembley once again, after impressing and scoring in the semi-final. He couldn't quite connect with an early diving header and smacked a shot against the bar soon after the start of the second half. Chested the ball brilliantly for Mata to fire the equaliser.

Juan Mata
Linked up well with Rojo when he could, and popped up in good positions in attack throughout the first half. He also saw an effort well saved by Hennessey on 22 minutes and also collected a booking. Netted the all-important leveller nine minutes from time when he finished smartly.

Wayne Rooney
An all-action display from the skipper as he took up a deeper role in midfield. As well as dictating play in the centre of the park and lending support in attack, he got back to defend when needed at vital points and made a huge contribution to the equaliser with a superb run and cross.

Anthony Martial
After a quiet opening half an hour for the semi-final hero, the Frenchman saw a shot cleared off the line by Joel Ward after being set up by Marcus Rashford. He got closer still on the hour-mark when his placed header bounced back off the post.

Marcus Rashford
The Academy star was arguably United's most dangerous player in attack. His pace terrified the Palace defenders and he was unlucky to see a shot blocked after a neat one-two with Mata on 10 mins. Set up Martial for the best chance of the first half and was unlucky to go off injured 18 minutes from full-time.

Substitutes:

Matteo Darmian (for Rojo, 66 mins)
Began his time on the field at left-back and the Italian finished at centre-back alongside Blind after Smalling's dismissal. A solid display.

Ashley Young (for Rashford, 72 mins)
Was a threat when he came on at centre-forward to replace the injured Rashford and provided a good outlet for the Reds to run in behind the Palace defenders. Moved to the left wing and then left-back during extra-time, working his socks off to help United secure the cup.

Jesse Lingard (for Mata, 90 mins)
Joined a unique list of players to have scored in an FA Youth Cup and FA Cup final, after his humdinger of a winning strike that sealed the trophy for United. It was a moment to tell the future grandchildren about, over and over again, and one for us all to watch for years to come.
