Old Trafford Is Jose's New House

Jose Mourinho appeared at Old Trafford for the first time as Manchester United manager on Sunday and the Portuguese has already described the Theatre of Dreams as his “new house”.

Using his official Instagram account, which was opened upon his appointment, Mourinho posted a photo of himself inside the stadium with Brazil legend Pele before the Soccer Aid match and he captioned the cheery image with the words: “An honour to host Pele at my new house.”

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, United’s new manager had uploaded another image of him looking down the Old Trafford tunnel and out onto a pitch that will soon become home to the 53-year-old.

Mourinho attended the special charity match as the co-manager of an England XI that secured an entertaining 3-2 win over a Rest of the World side, with all funds raised going to UNICEF.

The first United game involving Mourinho will be against Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on 22 July, before the next test against Manchester City in Beijing on 25 July as part of Tour 2016 presented by Aon.

Wayne Rooney’s upcoming testimonial against Everton is likely to be Mourinho’s first match at Old Trafford as Reds boss. The FA Community Shield match against Leicester City will follow at Wembley on 6 August, before the 2016/17 season begins on the weekend commencing 13 August.
