Memphis Amazed By Global Support
Memphis Depay says the experience of going on his first pre-season tour last summer opened his eyes to just how big Manchester United is around the world.
The Dutch attacker enjoyed his first taste of life on the road with the Reds during Tour 2015, presented by Aon, as United played four matches across the United States.
Memphis is looking forward to experiencing the support in China in a country he is yet to visit. "We had a lot of support in America on our last tour," he told ManUtd.com. "I never thought it would be that big and that we would have so many supporters all over the world. This club has a big impact everywhere."
Memphis also says the players will be determined to put on two good performances for the fans in the matches against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
"I think both will be tough games," the Dutchman explained. "Of course the derby means a lot to us and the fans. It’s really important to win those games.
"The rivalry is very big against City and there is always a good atmosphere when you win those matches. We know we will have a lot of supporters there so we have to win and it could be like a home game for us!
"Dortmund have a really strong team and are difficult to beat," he added. "It’s pre-season so we will be working on our shape and how we want to play and I’m looking forward to it. I think it will help to play strong teams - we can see how strong we are at that point which is always good to know."
