Rashford Relishes First Senior Tour
Marcus Rashford is relishing his first major pre-season tour with Manchester United as he continues to build on a phenomenal few months as a first-team player.
Rashford will be part of the travelling squad that leaves for China on Tuesday ahead of matches with Borussia Dortmund (22 July) and Manchester City (25 July), which will both be shown exclusively live on MUTV.
The 18-year-old striker will be joined on Tour 2016, presented by Aon by fellow England stars Wayne Rooney and Chris Smalling but as Jose Mourinho confirmed to MUTV recently, the trio will only train, not play, during the week-long trip as they continue to recover from their Euro 2016 exploits.
Rashford is nevertheless looking forward to the experience and getting a chance to impress his new manager.
"It means a lot to be going," he told ManUtd.com. "It’s an opportunity to show the manager what you've got and you have to take the opportunity when it comes.
"It would be a massive experience especially with the players that could be going as well. I’ve got a lot I can learn from them."
Asia is somewhere Rashford has been before with United's youth team and he recalls being taken aback by the level of support for the Reds.
"It’s crazy to see their support. The conditions can be difficult to play in as we witnessed in the tournament we were in back then but we got through it and it was a really good experience."
As for what constitutes a good pre-season, the striker added: "First and foremost a lot of touches of the ball. The training part of the tour is a big thing and getting used to the players and the personalities. I’m really looking forward to it."
