Rooney's Heartfelt Speech

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney thanked the fans during a heartfelt speech on the pitch after his testimonial against Everton.

The skipper took to the field immediately after full-time on Wednesday to express his gratitude to both Reds and Toffees supporters for coming out to celebrate his career and raise vital funds for charity.

All proceeds from the special match will be distributed via The Wayne Rooney Foundation, who will divide the funds between the NSPCC, Claire House children’s hospice, Alder Hey children’s hospital and the Manchester United Foundation.

"The money raised will go to a lot of children who are in desperate need of it, so you all should be proud of yourselves – thank you," Wayne said.
