Mourinho Praise For United Trio
Jose Mourinho believes Ander Herrera is showing his best form for Manchester United in the wake of the manager taking charge this summer.
The boss also explained why Ashley Young and Michael Carrick can always be relied upon as he gets to know his squad and transmits his ideas to the players. Herrera produced a Man-of-the-Match performance against Liverpool while Young made a positive impression on his first league start since last season's win at Anfield nine months ago.
Carrick scored during his only start since the Community Shield against Northampton Town in the EFL Cup and the manager is well aware he will bring his qualities to the team when introduced into the XI.
"You know, we managers we are strange people sometimes because some players they are better with one manager than with others and Ander is being better with me than with previous managers," Mourinho told MUTV.
"Other players were better with Mr [Louis] van Gaal than they are with me. This is the nature of things. You have more empathy, you have more understanding of the idea, you are more adapted to the ideas and Ander was lucky that I arrived.
"With me, he feels all of that plus the confidence so I am really happy for him. But I am probably more happy with the Ashley Young situation because to perform like he did [at Anfield] is only possible because he is phenomenal in the way he trains.
"If you don't play, you don't have much fitness. If you don't train to the top, you are not ready to play. It's the same with Michael Carrick. The day I need to play Carrick, I am sure he is going to answer because they train really well."
