Lingard: United In A Strong Position
Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard believes it is all to play for in Group A of the Europa League, as Jose Mourinho's men prepare to welcome Feyenoord to Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
United currently sit third in the table, but are only one point off the top spot with two games remaining and will be looking to secure an important win following the frustrating 1-1 home draw with Arsenal at the weekend.
"I think we’re still in a strong position and are very close to the top of the group," Lingard told United Review, the matchday programme at Old Trafford. "If we get a win on Thursday, I think we’ll then be in a good position to go on and win the group."
The match against Feyenoord has become a must-win for Mourinho’s side, but Lingard is confident the Reds can avenge September's 1-0 away defeat to the Dutch outfit and get a positive result on home turf, having already seen off Zorya Luhansk and Fenerbahce at Old Trafford.
"Of course [we can get three points], especially playing at home," Jesse continued. "We’ll have the fans right behind us and supporting us but either way it’s vital we go out and get a result.
"I wasn’t involved in the first game [in Rotterdam] and watched the game on television. It looked a tough match, but the most important thing now is to bounce back and win this game for everyone at the club."
