Rashford Wins Regional Football Award
Marcus Rashford's stunning breakthrough at Manchester United received regional recognition on Monday night at the 2016 North-West Football Awards.
The young striker, who turned 19 at the end of last month, won the Rising Star of the Year award which was voted for by fans. The trophy was collected on Rashford's behalf by a club official - he was unable to attend the ceremony at Lancashire County Cricket Club as he is currently away on international duty with England, for whom he could play against Spain at Wembley on Tuesday evening.
The North-West accolade is the latest highlight in Rashford's remarkable year, in which he has scored on his debuts for United and two England teams, the Under-21s and also the senior side. He went on to play for the Three Lions at Euro 2016 of course, a month after helping the Reds to win the FA Cup - his first major honour with the club.
Congratulations Marcus, from everyone at Manchester United.
