Souness And Carragher Debate Pogba's Defensive Display

Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher debate Paul Pogba's defensive display as he continuously lost his man at set-pieces.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed a late equaliser as Manchester United rescued a 1-1 draw against old foes Liverpool at Old Trafford after James Milner's first-half penalty, which came from a Pogba handball.

Dejan Lovren had already lost Pogba at two set-pieces but the Frenchman was culpable with consequences on 26 minutes, an ill-advised leap with his arm outstretched prompting referee Michael Oliver to point to the spot.

Carragher said: "On the first two corners Pogba didn't lose his man, he got blocked off. Credit to Liverpool for that. I've been there when three or four players are blocking you."

However, Souness disagreed with the former Liverpool captain, pin-pointing a weakness in Pogba's technical ability to defend crosses.

"It's not just about blocking - his starting position should be better," Souness said.
