Fellaini: I Have To Give Everything
Marouane Fellaini has reiterated his vow to "give everything" for Manchester United when given the chance by manager Jose Mourinho.
The Belgian has scored two goals in his last five appearances and played a vital part in United’s equaliser against Liverpool in the recent 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, when he came on as a second-half substitute to take up a more advanced midfield position.
Fellaini admits his recent strikes against Wigan Athletic and Hull City have boosted his confidence, while Mourinho has previously declared the midfielder is "a very important player for me".
"I’ve played forward more, which is good," Fellaini explained in an interview with MUTV this week. "I’ve been scoring for the team so hopefully I can keep going. I have to give everything when the manager gives me that chance. It’s good for my confidence; it’s always good to score a goal."
United ended a frustrating run of draws in the Premier League last weekend with a comfortable 3-0 win over Leicester City and Fellaini is determined to build on that result.
"In the last game against Hull we had so many chances but we just didn’t score," the 29-year-old said. "We’ve drawn a lot, with many chances in the games. We should have won some games like against Hull, Burnley and Stoke. Apart from that, though, we’ve been doing well. We need to make sure in the big games coming up that we win."
United's next game is on Saturday at home to Watford, who are unbeaten in their last four league games, including a surprise 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Hornets also won the reverse fixture against the Reds 3-1 at Vicarage Road in September, so Fellaini is well aware this weekend's encounter won’t be a walk-over.
"We lost to Watford last time so all the players will be looking to bounce back," he said. "They are a strong and physical team and it will be tough. They will defend and counter-attack so we will have a lot of the ball.
"All the Premier League teams can be tough to play against but we have the quality and the players. Most importantly, we’re at home so we should do well."
