Rashford: Bring On Chelsea

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is convinced the Emirates FA Cup holders can win at Premier League leaders Chelsea, which will be required now there are no replays in the quarter-finals.

The Reds were handed the most difficult of last-eight ties when being given the mission of emerging victorious at Stamford Bridge but Rashford, who scored a well-taken equaliser at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, is keen to put the record straight after the disappointing 4-0 defeat to Antonio Conte's men in October.

"They have one over on us so we will definitely be going there to win the game," vowed the England international on MUTV.

"At this stage of the competition, we are going to be coming up against top quality opposition no matter where you go. They are in good form, but so are we, and we will be looking to go there and win the game."

Rashford was thankful United successfully negotiated the tie at Ewood Park, particularly after falling behind in the first half to a Danny Graham strike.

"It was such a tough game," he said. "Each year, there are cup shocks and we saw that on Saturday and they were very up for it but I thought we managed it well and got the result we deserved."

The forward showed maturity way beyond his years with a cool finish to draw United level and he was keen to praise provider Henrikh Mkhitaryan. 

"It was a brilliant ball," he said. "Most of their players were around him on that side of the pitch but he was able to look up and see my run and, thankfully, I could finish it off.

"Sometimes it can be difficult [to complete the job in that situation] but I just kept in my mind that the team was losing and I knew that I had to finish it off." 

With United struggling to break down the Championship side, manager Jose Mourinho introduced Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as substitutes in what proved to be a decisive move.

Record-signing Pogba played in Ibrahimovic to coolly finish past Rovers keeper Jason Steele and fire United into the next round.

"It was good to have them come on," explained Rashford. "We had just been missing that little bit of something during the game. We had only had it in spurts but, when those two came on, it just gave us that bit of an edge and everyone knows what quality players they are and they showed that again."

The Reds were backed by over 7,000 away supporters who were vocal throughout, something which the teenager was keen to praise.

"The fans are with us everywhere we go but it was a special day for them. So for us to give them the win was no more than what they deserved."
