Update On Rojo & Zlatan
Jose Mourinho admits he does not feel good about the injuries Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered in the Europa League quarter-final second leg win over Anderlecht.
The Reds joined Ajax, Celta Vigo and Lyon in the competition's last four thanks to Marcus Rashford’s extra-time winner at Old Trafford, after Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sofiane Hanni had both scored first-half goals.
Victory came at a price, though, with in-form centre-back Rojo leaving the action on a stretcher before half-time and this season’s top scorer Ibrahimovic falling heavily on his knee just as the game was about to enter 30 minutes of extra time.
Speaking to BT Sport and in his post-match press conference, Mourinho gave this update on the duo:
"I want to wait but my feeling is not good, for both. I want to try to be optimistic but I’m not. I don’t think they are easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done tomorrow. After tomorrow then I can speak what I feel because I am a manager, not a doctor."
United’s next match is against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, when kick-off at Turf Moor is scheduled for 14:15 BST. One positive note on the injuries front ahead of that game is Wayne Rooney's return to the matchday squad - he occupied a place on the bench for the triumph over Anderlecht, having not played since coming on as a substitute against West Bromwich Albion on 1 April.
