Blind Focused On Finishing The Job
Daley Blind says the Manchester United players will treat Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta Vigo as a one-off match and approach it as if starting from scratch.
Jose Mourinho's currently hold a 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Spain thanks to Marcus Rashford's excellent free-kick.
A place in Stockholm in the Europa League final awaits the winners but, while United have completed part-one of the job, Blind insists the Reds must finish it at Old Trafford.
"Of course, in your mind, you know you are in front but, during the game, we have to show the same attitude that we always show – we want to win and we want to get to the final," he told United Review.
"It’s up to us to bring the same attitude and the same character and spirit into the game as the opponent and, if we do that, we know we have a lot of quality in the team.
"We made a good first step to hopefully getting to the final but we have to make sure we finish the job. There is still work to do and a very important game we have to win. We won’t underestimate Celta Vigo at all because it’s a semi-final and we know it will be a difficult game."
Mourinho has spoken about the importance of the United faithful doing their bit to hopefully spur the team on to a famous victory. Blind expects the fans to be as vocal and inspiring as ever as the Reds focus on making it a night to remember.
"I don’t think I need to give them a message because they are always there for us, home and away. They are always great and support us everywhere we go, and I expect nothing else but that on Thursday," he added.
"They help us so much. When they are loud and are cheering for us, especially when we are attacking, it gives us a big boost and extra energy. It’s a great feeling and we really hope to make it a special night for everyone."
