Mourinho Reveals Rashford's Secret
Jose Mourinho has revealed the secret of Man-of-the-Match Marcus Rashford's success - extra practice at the Aon Training Complex.
The teenager scored his 19th goal for the first team, a beautifully-flighted free-kick, to earn a priceless 1-0 win at Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi-final first leg.
Although he later limped out of the action, the youngster can be well pleased with his evening's work as he also forced a superb save out of Sergio Alvarez in the first half. Mourinho was full of praise for the striker afterwards and lifted the lid on the work that goes on behind the scenes on the training pitch.
"He’s a 19-year-old kid," the manager told BT Sport. "But he’s a 19-year-old kid that’s in love with football. A kid that finishes a training session and stays half an hour more to take free-kicks and to wait for the opportunity. It’s his mentality. He works, he works, he works. He’s very mature and let’s forget the age because what matters is not the age, it’s the quality.
"He started the game with a little problem and obviously with the running and the continuity, he was feeling [it] and [Anthony] Martial was fresh and had to give us the last ten or fifteen minutes where we thought we still could score because [there was] still plenty of space to play."
Rashford won our Man of the Match award with 52 per cent of the vote, ahead of Paul Pogba (41%) and Ander Herrera (7%).
