Your Tour Briefing: Transfers And Training

We understand it can be hard to keep up with the latest Manchester United news and content, especially during Tour 2017, so here is your bitesize briefing to recap Monday 10 July…

1: LUKAKU TRANSFER CONFIRMED
At 17:00 BST the club confirmed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton on a five-year contract, with the option for a further year. In a statement, Jose Mourinho said the striker "is a natural fit for Manchester United" and the big Belgian himself claimed this was an "opportunity of a lifetime".

2: ROMELU SPEAKS TO MUTV
Lukaku’s arrival was announced with a colourful photo shoot in the Hollywood Hills, as well as a lengthy interview with MUTV that you can read here. The best part, however, was arguably his light-hearted discussion with good friend Paul Pogba all about their relationship and future together at Old Trafford.

3: NEW SIGNINGS TRAIN FOR FIRST TIME
Shortly after the big announcement, Lukaku laced up his boots for an intense workout with his new United team-mates. Fellow summer signing Victor Lindelof also took part beneath the hot sun in Los Angeles, as well as the likes of David De Gea, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford. 4: MATA POKES FUN AT ROM
We encourage you to check out this tweet from Juan Mata, who was clearly shocked and amused by the size of Lukaku’s boots when he tried them on in the dressing room. They are absolutely massive!

5: CARRICK REACTS TO ROONEY EXIT
MUTV’s Stewart Gardner grabbed a quick word with Michael Carrick ahead of Monday morning’s training session and began by asking for his reaction to Wayne Rooney’s departure. “I am sad to see him go,” he said. “I understand why he has gone and we all fully support him and wish him well because he has been an unbelievable servant to the club.” You can read the full Q&A here.

6: EARLY TEAM NEWS FROM JOSE
The manager amusingly interrupted MUTV’s live coverage of training to provide some team news regarding his goalkeepers David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira, revealing the trio would take it in turns to play 45 minutes at a time. Read our news story for more detail.

7: MOURINHO MEETS DRAYMOND GREEN
Speaking of Jose, he was pleased to meet up with basketball star Draymond Green at the team hotel in Beverly Hills. The latter is riding the crest of a wave at present, after helping the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Finals last month and happily exchanged a jersey with the boss.

8: GOALKEEPER LOANED OUT
Away from the tour, Dean Henderson secured a season-long loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town. “I will be working hard every day in training and hopefully performing well in the games before the season starts,” the young goalkeeper told their official club website.
